Certification: Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention and Advocacy Training
One SAFE Place requires volunteers who work directly with clients to attend the 66-hour training course, accredited by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) as outlined in Penal Code section 13835.10. This course is usually offered twice annually. One during spring semester (January-May) at Shasta College and as an 8-week option (August-September) at One SAFE Place. While the course requires commitment of time and energy, at completion volunteers are certified as Crisis Intervention Advocates.
A fee of $25.00 is charged per training course. Incentives and scholarships are available.
The next DV/SA Crisis Intervention Counselor Training will be held in June 2020.
Our 8-week course will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30a.m – 11:30a.m. We will start on June 22nd 2020 and finish on August 14th2020.
Why take this course?
One SAFE Place (OSP) is a local non-profit dedicated to providing intervention and safety to the community of Shasta County affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. There is so much work to be done here in our community and we need volunteers and people who will step in to make a difference. We have many volunteer opportunities within OSP but all volunteering opportunities that involve clients require this 66 hour training which is certified by the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) as outlined in Penal Code section 13835.10. While this is quite a commitment, at completion volunteers are certified as Crisis Intervention Advocates.
