Sexual Assault Response Team

Expanding Hope: Our Hospital Response Programs and SART Team in 2025

In partnership with the Children’s Legacy Center, we are proud to expand One SAFE Place’s Hospital Response Programs in 2025 to include a child-centered, trauma-informed response for children impacted by sexual assault, physical abuse, and exploitation. This expansion enhances our current Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) program, which provides specialized care for adolescents, adults, and elders.

Our SART team is available 24/7 to support victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. By offering accompaniment, advocacy, and emotional support during forensic medical exams, our advocates help create a sense of safety and reassurance, ensuring that victims and survivors feel supported and valued during this critical process.

Together, One SAFE Place and the Children’s Legacy Center are strengthening the community’s ability to deliver immediate, compassionate care and building a stronger foundation of hope and healing for survivors.

Build a SART Bag: Help Us Deliver Comfort and Care

A SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) bag is a carefully curated resource designed to provide immediate comfort and support to individuals who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, or other forms of abuse. These bags are an essential part of our trauma-informed response, ensuring that survivors have access to basic necessities and care items during a time of crisis.
What’s Included in a SART Bag?
Each SART bag includes:
  • Clothing: Comfortable items such as sweatpants, t-shirts, and undergarments for survivors who may need to change out of their personal clothing.
  • Shoes: Slip-on or easy-to-wear footwear to replace items taken for evidence collection.
  • Snacks: Non-perishable snacks and water to provide nourishment during lengthy exams.
  • Hygiene Kit: Basic toiletry items, including soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and chapstick.
  • Blanket: A soft, warm blanket to offer comfort and security.
  • Activity for Children/Youth: Age-appropriate items like coloring books, small toys, or puzzles to help younger survivors feel engaged and comforted.
  • Phone Charger Access: A portable phone charger to ensure survivors can stay connected to their support network when they need it most.
