December 2016 – This holiday season has given us all an overwhelming flow of love and compassion from our community.

The highlight of it all has to be the chance to welcome our first Transitional Housing client into her new home!  This beautiful family, a young woman and her three children, were homeless and living out of a car to escape a violent domestic situation, until they came to One SAFE Place.  Through our Transitional Housing grant, we were able to qualify her to move in just in time for the holidays.

There are many other ways the community has been changing lives.  From the Thanksgiving meal so lovingly prepared and served by a volunteer to our clients in Residence, to the goal-breaking donations on Giving Tuesday, to the outpouring of toy drives, food drives, gift cards and more from community groups and individuals, the response has been astounding.

Our client families who have been devastated and traumatized by domestic and sexual abuse have been embraced by the community, supported, and told that they are cared about and that they matter.

Events such as Give Redding (sponsored by O2 Employement Services) is an example of the true heart and soul of this community.  Over 250 hams and turkeys came in.  The truck full of donations included other groceries such as soup, breakfast items, and food to sustain each family for a week or two.  Many families left with a cart full of supplies and tears of gratitude in their eyes.

We are all grateful for every single one of you who have opened your hearts to change lives.

Sincerely,

Angela Jones
