Carla King became an OSP volunteer 3 years ago. Her interest was sparked when she saw an ad in the local newspaper that advocate training for domestic violence and sexual assault was available for volunteers. Carla believed in One Safe Place’s mission statement. She wanted to be a part of not only helping her community but also to be part of a team that sets goals in helping their clients succeed.
Since completing the Crisis Intervention Advocacy Training for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Carla has dedicated her time working on the 24 hour Crisis Hotline, where she is able to take calls and respond to clients in danger. She is genuine and kind, and her sense of wanting to help others is contagious. It’s no surprise, since she has been an English teacher for 20 years at Redding Christian.
Carla is our Volunteer Spotlight for the month of June because she embodies the “vision” of seeing our community grow into a safe and prosperous place to live. She says, “I feel so proud to live in Redding, knowing how many resources we offer to help our community.”
